About The Heavy Metal Foundry

Focusing on acts from 1965 right through the 80's, the Foundry features a vast pantheon of bands that gave form and definition to that sound we all lovingly call Heavy fuckin' Metal.

We intend to promote awareness of forgotten artists and reigning legends by reviewing classics of the genre thereby tracing the origins of Heavy Metal.

A Tribute To Thrash Metal

The mid-eighties. Thrash Metal's heyday. The year 1986. Possibly the genre's brightest hour with some of the biggest bands coming up some with truly breath-taking work. And a good 24 years have passed since these colossal monsters of thrash released some of their greatest, biggest and most critically acclaimed albums.

Metallica - Master of Puppets.

Megadeth - Peace Sells... But Who's Buying?

Slayer - Reign In Blood.

Motorhead - Orgamatron.

Kreator - Pleasure To Kill.

Sepultura - Morbid Visions.

King Diamond - Fatal Portrait.

Dark Angel - Darkness Descends.

Possessed - Beyond the Gates.

Raven - The Pack is Back.

This year - 2010, 24 years down the line, 4 of the biggest thrash metal artists - Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer and Anthrax will perform on the same stage, for the very first time in history. And hopefully, what all thrash metal fans hope for would be that the bands go back to their roots that hooked us to their sound to begin with. Here's to a great concert with the big four.

Iron Maiden Announce New Album!!

Teaser Image On The Iron Maiden Website Till March 4th

Ready For Some Eddie??
British heavy metal legends Iron Maiden have announced the name of their forthcoming album (Their 15th studio album!) to be "The Final Frontier" which is due for a tentative late summer release. More good news for maiden-heads as the band have announced a massive North American tour this year before the release of the album along with "very special guests" Dream Theater.

Says vocalist Dickinson, We were astounded to see so many thousands of fans packing out the venues, so this time round we will be playing a few more cities we haven’t visited for some time, like Dallas, Saskatoon, Detroit, Denver and Pittsburgh, though logistically we couldn’t get to a few places we really like to play, which is a shame. It’s also great news that our friends DREAM THEATER are able to join us as special guests.”

Dream Theater's Mike Portnoy echoes Dickinson's enthusiasm on the pairing of the two bands: "Touring with Iron Maiden in North America is a bit of a dream come true for us! After 25 years together, at this stage in our career, there's honestly only three bands Dream Theater would consider opening for...and Maiden is one of them! It is an absolute honor."

Here's whats was posted on the Iron Maiden Website after the teaser image was removed.
